Great Barrier Reef Water & Catchment Science Consensus Statement

Working for

I assisted with their crucial work supporting the creation of The Scientific Consensus Statement, which is part of The Reef 2050 Water Quality Improvement Plan. Details can be found here. The statement is a major independent review of land-based impacts on Reef water quality and ecosystem condition. It underpins the Reef 2050 Water Quality Improvement Plan.

What we did

  • Work with the team at C2O to design and deliver an in-person workshop in Brisbane to build the final consensus language for Part I: The 2022 Scientific Consensus Statement Conclusions.

  • This important element of the finalization of the 2022 Consensus Statement Conclusions required a hybrid design and involved many scientific experts from across Australia.

  • Work with the team so the outputs of this workshop created a consensus agreement with the highest-level summary possible whilst maintaining the strong consensus-based approach taken to date through the process.

The Result

The process to build the Science Consensus statement is a confidential evidence-based process. The final output will be publicly available when finalised. Details on progress (as well as past processes) can be found here.

Science into Action resides on the Country of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We acknowledge the custodianship of all Traditional Owners across Australia, and the historic dislocation and dispossession of their lands. We celebrate the extraordinary resilience of their culture - the oldest living culture on the globe. We pay respects to elders past, present and emerging. We look forward to our shared future together.
