Summit: Buying in. Buying Back?

Value chain perspectives on closing the loop for Sydney’s food waste and recovery.

ree

We were approached by the team at the South Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (SSROC) to assist them design and deliver a summit with Council, Industry (processors and others) and State Government participants in the organics management value chain.

ree

What we did

  • Designed and delivered an in-person workshop with the SSROC team that met the goals of building a shared understanding about the regulatory scene, industry innovations, risk sharing and emerging technologies.

    ree
  • On April 1st, 2025, at the Australian Museum, over 70 participants from across the organics circular economy joined to learn about opportunities and challenges in the South Sydney region in managing organics.

    ree

  • Reported back on the process, collated outputs, and headline outcomes as well as some clear recommendations from the workshop for use by SSROC in working with their members and the State Government.

The Result

A collaborative workshop producing a set of ideas and innovations about areas including contamination management, supply chain and feedstock quality, market development, partnerships and technical needs. At the highest level, there was very strong participation across the sectors present and a shared commitment to improving outcomes for organics management, and communities, as well as businesses.

The workshop outputs are being used by the client to frame regional scale investments and partnerships.
